BSME courses are designed so that credits are transferable to American colleges and universities. St. Olaf College (for undergraduate credits) and Texas State University (for graduate credits) are the Schools of Record for BSME and provide the transcripts of the program.
Upon completion of work at BSME, the BSME North American Office will send an official transcript to the Registrar’s Office at your home institution (unless you direct us differently).
You may find, at a later date, that you need additional transcripts (if you apply to graduate school, for instance). Both Schools of Record can provide official transcripts for a fee. Visit the St. Olaf Registrar’s website or Texas State Registrar’s website for details on how to request additional transcripts.
Undergraduate Credit Transfer (through St Olaf College)
Undergraduate participants will earn a total of 2.5 undergraduate credits through St. Olaf College upon completing coursework in all three BSME courses. For our undergraduate participants, BSME uses course units to describe its courses rather than “credit hours” or “semester hours.” This is in concert with the St. Olaf system of counting courses toward graduation. Typically, a 1-credit BSME course transfers as 3 or 4 semester hours, or 4 or 5 quarter hours, depending on an evaluation of course material done by the home institution. Those schools that use the course unit system (like St. Olaf) give 1 semester course unit for each 1-credit BSME course. You should seek advice regarding credit transfer from the Registrar’s Office at your college or university.
Graduate Credit Transfer (Texas State University)
Participants who hold a bachelor’s degree by the time they enter BSME will earn a total of 8 graduate credit hours through Texas State University. To earn these credits, they are required to complete coursework in all three BSME courses, as well as the Graduate Credit Project.
