Dear colleagues,

We write with sadness to inform you that the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Education (BSME) program is closing. We had our last cohort this summer, in June–July of 2026.

We loved working with so many dedicated, talented, and enthusiastic participants; and we are deeply grateful for the support we received from you over the years. Unfortunately, continuing the program is not a financially viable option. However, we will keep seeking ways to share the Hungarian pedagogy with the mathematics education community.

Summer@BSME is a six-week summer program in Budapest, Hungary, designed for undergraduates, recent graduates, and in-service teachers interested in the learning and teaching of secondary mathematics. Participants take a variety of courses in mathematics education and complete a week-long field experience. Come experience the Hungarian pedagogy based on guided discovery—which emphasizes problem solving, creativity, and communication—as well as the rich and vibrant culture of Hungary.  Read More…
